Strange. Did you use the latest octane release?
Version 1.021 beta 2.1

Is that the one?
these export scripts only work with 2.2 versions, grab the 2.2 RC3 from the release candidates forum...

n1k:
There is a problem with the max command which sends the arguments to octane in versions prior to max2010. (its actually broken)
I need to think a bit about that one

Thanks, that's better. One thing though; I'm guessing that it's not supposed to be upside-down when it comes into Octane?

Nice work guys.

Is there any chance the exporter will one day support the 3ds Max substitute modifier or Xref proxy objects?

Well, its not so much about the exporter as is about Octane, which right now doesn't support instances. They'll be here in version 1.23, which is coming soon, (at this rate it's probably out and we haven't noticed yet  ). Meanwhile instead of substitute modifier you can use this nice free script http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/scrip ... ce-replace which works fine with instances and octane (I've used it before), And for xref you''ll need to bind them or merge them prior to export.

i think you're trying to use the export script with beta 2.1 which does'nt support it.
you need to use the beta 2.2 RC3 from the release candidates forum.

the scripts are for 2.2 releases.

-o is the image path, should look like this:
-o C:\Users\smalls\Desktop\xxx\zutuz_0.png

See some script issues.
When you want to render a animation, the -q (quiet) option should be set, but i don´t see they.
Also the object in the -r section should be zutuz_anim.obj

Thank you Kubo :) . I already use a similar script by Neil Blevins. However it would improve work-flow a lot, if one did not have to go through the process of replacing proxies with high-res objects before exporting. I did a test on Fryrender v1.5. And their exporter actually reads the settings in the 3DS Max Substitute modifier. So the object that is exported to Fryrender is the object that is set to be displayed in the render under the display settings. It would be great if the Octane export script could do the same.

oh, I see, so it's up to the exporter to do the change, that's a nice feature for sure. Well, ask [gk] and kilad, they are the geniuses at work in this side of the forum, I'm certain they'll come up with something the like. (says he, before dropping the white glove to their feet and leaving the saloon...... )
