Does anyone know when the next release is scheduled?
Hopefully it will happen with 2022.1-XB3 SDK. It will have universal binary for Intel/Arm64kaisdaddy wrote:Any chance we'll get the Apple silicon native version in the near future? Asking for a friend...

Hi
The Octane X "megathread" is a ludicrous 114 pages of posts, and even this thread is PR11-14, rather than a thread each for 11, 12, 13, 14. Makes it very hard to find the relevant information easily.
If there is one, where can I find please, a summary or table of which versions work with which C4D versions and which OS versions? A neat table would be super helpful for those jumping versions who aren't in these forums every day. A lot changes, and fast, and it's really hard to figure out without spending hours wading through posts and bugs.
I am currently on 12.01 on the M1 Mac and wish to try it out for use / rendering.
Which X/PR version should I put on for R21 and R26, if I want to run both side by side?
Thanks
AN

Hi AN,
you can find a general table here:
viewtopic.php?f=7&t=75411&start=1110#p411875
Please always upgrade your macOS version to the latest version, to have the latest Apple Metal driver for the specific macOS version, in your case, please upgrade to 12.4.
About M1, C4D R26 is not supported, only from R21 to R25, and you need to select the Cinema 4D.app, press Command+I, to get the Info panel, and enable the Open using Rosetta option:

OctaneX is still based on 2020.1.5 SDK, with some addictions, while PC version is evolved at 2021.1.5 SDK.
But we have just published the second alpha version for OctaneX 2022.1-XB2 SDK:
viewtopic.php?f=33&t=79999
This is the second OctaneX version in pair with the CUDA SDK, and it will allow to build the first c4doctaneX plugin native for Apple Silicon M1.
We are expecting to have the first c4doctaneX 2022.1-XB3 plugin in the coming weeks, also compatible with R26.
In the meantime, please stay with C4D R25 and OctaneX PR14, in Rosetta mode, thanks.
ciao,
Beppe

Thanks bepedg4d,
That's a useful table, thanks very much for linking that.
I would argue it would be more useful as a pinned post or somewhere very easy to find, rather than on page 112 of a 114 page thread. Perhaps something pinnned that can be edited as new versions come out, so we can bookmark it and return to it easily, or even see it at a glance when logging in to the forums.
I got things working before you replied, just went with the latest versions of things to see what happened and (to my surprise) it all worked. But I do wish Otoy would make this info much easier to find, and hope you may argue for this with the team. Imagine subscribing to Octane as a new user and seeing the only info on Mac and M1 is a 114 page thread. If you want to onboard more users, Otoy still needs to work on making the information and setup as easy to find and frictionless as possible. What versions do we need and where are the links? Boom, top of forum posts, for PC, Mac, etc. Forum, login, versions table, this one, direct DL link, DL install and go.
Cheers

Does anyone have any information about when the next Octane X for mac is likely to be released? And will it have the ability to use ACES? I have to put my work travel plans on hold indefinitely until this functionality is added

Hi,
we need to wait for 2022.1-XB3 SDK, to have a native plugin for M1.
A solution could be to export your scene in .orbx format from C4D-OctaneX-PR14 to Standalone 2022.1-XB2, enable ACES, and fine tune your scene on a M1 Mac:

Do you have a rough timeline for when that is likely to be? In the next few weeks, months, next year?
