One other important question is does the 680 have an increased texture limit? Is it more than 64 textures now or still the same? That's much more important than going from 3GB to 4GB for me :)
Can someone confirm this. thanks.

I don't understand this bit? First you say don't expect gains, then in the same sentence you say expect substantial improvements. Do we get to toss a coin? :D

Sorry for being confusing.

What I was trying to say, was that when we finally get around to do work on performance (which requires some serious rewriting/restructuring) there is a good chance, that we might be able to improve things significantly. I can't say for sure obviously, since we haven't started on that yet. We have a bunch of ideas, but they would require more time to implement, than we want to spend right now.

Cheers,
Marcus

Yes and no. They increased the texture reference limit to 256, but we don't use them in Octane (yet). Texture references are effectively hard-coded, and can't be added/removed dynamically.

Hi,

today we unfortunately didn't get all issues resolved for the next release, which means you will have to wait a bit longer. Hopefully we get everything sorted on Monday and we can release then. I know it sounds like marketing fluff, but I'm really excited about the upcoming release and I think it will be worth the wait :)

Cheers,
Marcus
