And will there be an integration with Light Studio 5 to the Poser plugin in the very near future that works?
Yes - it should be in the next release of the plugin in 1-2 weeks time.

Any chance the changes in version 5 will allow you to make it easier to develop the Mac plugin to work with it?

Only Apple can make it easy to get HDR Light Studio working with the Octane plugin :-) I will add to the medium-term todo list to look into this again.

does the hdr studio use up video memory more than using hdr in environment in octane?

No - HDR Light Studio simply packages a HDR file which the Poser Octane plugin uses. So it is the same as using a normal HDR.

As stated above, this will be in the next release of the plugin.
