Greetz,

I have been having trouble with the maximize window for several releases now, there is something flaky going on but i can't figure out a pattern that will trigger it.

Mine doesnt work if I maximize, then save and close. When you open it back up, you can't reset it back to default, you have to manually resize everything.

Problems with the camera focus picker : in complex scenes, very often it doesn't work. I can click everywhere and it doesn't refresh the focus distance, and the render continues as is.

Do the other pickers (material, focus) still work? Does it happen with all kernels?

I often get this problem when using the camera clipping ...

Material picker seem to work as usually.

I have not tried with PMC as it was a landscape view, but it occured with Pathtracing and Direct lighting as well (I tried Direct lighting to get faster refresh of the render).

I didn't use camera clipping.

Here it works. Is there any way for us to reproduce the problem?

I have encountered again the trouble. This time, switching to Directlighting, I have been able to adjust the focus. After, I switched back to Pathtracing.

It is difficult to reproduce, as it seem to not happen every time. The problem seem to occur if I try to change the focus after some time leaving rendering.
Like if the picker becomes asleep.

I'm trying to use Octane as my main renderer.

Recently I got this job which is a pretty large scale project. I cannot give specific information because of NDA but all I can say is that it's a vehicle rendering project.
The model is pretty dense around 27mil. poly. Where there are few more accesories model will be added in the
course of the project.

I'm using Octane standalone and Max plugin and cannot render the model in both versions.
But I can render the file perfectly in VrayRT and iRay. There is no detailed log info in octane for max.

But in , iRay I can see that. 1 default material applied to the whole meshes + 1 environment HDRI map (2K size)
I able to render the scene at 6000px. on a TITAN GPU.
And the render message window for max says that iray used 5.500 MB of VRAM

The system I'm working on is a 4.5GHz i7. with 32GB ram 1 gtx 6804GB and 1 titan 6GB.
I'm not using the 680 for the render.

Where as I cannot render it through octane for max.

I also tried to export the whole scene as obj and loaded in standalone. The obj file is 2.3GB in size. During the Mesh Compiling in Octane standalone the System Ram reached 15GB then dropped to 11 GB.
Octane stand alone did compiled and loaded the scene but couldn't render as well.
Cuda Devices tab report that the Geometry is 1.2 GB. Where I have 5.983 MB of space in TITAN.
you can see the capture attached.

As for the log in octane for Max says.

CUDA error 1 on device 0: One or more of the parameters passed were not within an acceptable range of values.
-> Failed to bind texture to device memory (data8)
I'm using single diffuse material with White environment color. not a single texture or a hdri image o even a light source is in the scene. just the model itself. but it cannot render.

IN MAX:
If I hide, lets say the back of the vechicle model and some more parts. Than it renders.

Since there are no texutres used. I'm guessing I hit a limit of geomerty or count of vertexes for a single object in the scene.

The model is a converted meshes from CAD files.

Sadly, It seems I wont be able to use octane for this project.
But even thouth I can pass the Compileing mesh process Why cannot I render it.

If there are and you can tell me those limits for total polygons in the scene or polygons per object.
I can check or try to reduce it.

Try using instances to lower your poly count.

Tires are the easiest one, you can cut the count down a lot.
Also, look for things in the autocad that are not visible in the view, like under the car, and remove those for the render.

Thank for the support.
I know that but as I mentioned there are tons of dense meshes that I'll add to the scene.
I'm afraid to hit a wall at some point where I cannot reduce more of those meshes.
As it is a commercial project I cannot risk it. If Vray and iray can render it octane should render it, too. Right?
That's why I want to learn that from the developers. If there is a hardcoded limit in Octane core. I'ld like to learn it. And plan my projects according to that.
