Beppe reported the same problem initially, but couldn't reproduce it on the next day. I could never reproduce the issue on our Mac computers. Because of that we really can't fix the problem. We are trying to get RC 5 out as soon as we have sorted out a couple more issues - hopefully tomorrow. Please test that version again and let me know if it doesn't work, in which case we will have to do a separate bug hunt session.
Ok, I was able to reproduce the issue and I think it's now fixed. If we don't get the next release out of the door tomorrow I will make another small hotfix update of RC4 tomorrow.

would it be possible to reactivate XB4 for a few days until this is being fixed and ported to the LW plugin?

Interactive render region will render up to 1 million or until stopped. For this specific reason, we have an option to denoise periodically. Disable denoise on completion option and set the desired interval to denoise periodically.

Thank you for the report. Yes, emission of hair should work if "surface brightness" is enabled, but it doesn't which we will fix with the next release.
