Thanks from the response. So you mean to say that Octane will never have 'native' OpenCL support, but there's a workaround in process for AMD GPUs? If so, that's great news!calus wrote:OpenCL support is never going to happen, Otoy instead works on a compiler to directly use the octane Cuda code on AMD GPU and on other plateform.zga042 wrote:Is OpenCL support an 'in progress' thing or a 'never going to happen' thing? Just asking for upgrade purposes.
Otoy already showed a video of Octane working with a AMD card but aparently was just a prototype.
From the GTC presentation we may think it could be ready eventually after summer, but you can't trust this date more than a rumor.

But we are running into driver issues that we need to see fixed by the vendor before we release this to users. We also have to do a solid round of performance tuning, same we are about to do on Pascal GPUs.

I'm not experiencing darker images at all. Yesterday I rendered images in version 2 and today rendered the same scene in version 3, and the images look the same. I mean exactly the same.Kross wrote:.....Octane 3.0 is faster but consumes more RAM and images out inexplicably darker and less color tone.....
Hello!
How is that 3.1 with the toon mode version coming along, is it still in the works?
