Yes. I just work on "Lock res" mode in LV with LMB.

I'm rendering with any options. LV open/close, sended before/after. Also with other scenes on queue. Still cannot encountered this problem. I'm still on windows. Later i'll run the tests on osx. Do you have many plugins which are installed? Can you try without plugins? Also what's your gpus?

Thanks for check Aoktar ... I have found that as long as I do not have LV open, things render fine so I can use that as a very easy workaround.

I just recently updated to R17 (and had installed the latest 17.048 update) but had not migrated any plugins except one called Topcoat from GSG but doubt that would be issue. Last night I actually migrated a bunch of plugins but it did not seem to make any difference. I have render running at moment but can check with 0 plugins in about 3 hours.

When it "freezes" it seems to have already calculated the scene and is something in the file saving or CameraImager/Tonemap portion of code (just a wild guess based on message image 1 doesn't match image 0 for render pass 'Beauty' .

I am running a Mac as my "main" system and a PC as a slave (would love to try running PC as master but my plugin license is for the Mac :)

System:

MAC PRO 4,1 OS 10.9.4 64GB ram
Octane standalone 2.24.2
C4D R17
C4D plugin 2.24.1-R1.1
GPU Nvidia 780 6GB
CUDA Driver Version: 7.0.64
GPU Driver Version 8.27.26 (334.01.02f02)

Slave
I7 2700K
Windows 7 Ultimate (SP1)
GPU Nvidia 980TI 6GB
GPU Nvidia 780 6GB
Octane standalone 2.24.2
Nvidia driver 3.58.87

wondering if this is a Mac problem or possibly something in my setup ...

I had a similar "Mac only" issue back in this thread viewtopic.php?f=30&t=48297&start=10 that you heroically fixed in an update ....
In that instance, I also needed to turn OFF "Synchronization on geo updates" ... not sure if this is related, in the current version I do not have the "Synchronization" button checked based on your recommendation and the manual.

Also not sure if changing "LV refresh time" or "Performance Timer" would make any difference ... I may take a look at these when I have the big spacestation loaded but since the file I sent you is small, I don't think this will make a difference.

from your 2.23 release notes I see that " parameter "Performance timer" in settings->other.Low values is well for updating in LV, but higher is better for editing the objects of complex scenes in viewport. "

Yes, I was using network slave for both render to PV and LV ... I can check if I can get it to freeze not running network rendering when current render is done

Sure enough, the plot thickens :)

I loaded the file and hit render ... renders fine
Started LV and loaded it ... freezes
Turned off network render in LV but left on in render ... freezes
Turned off network render in both LV and render to PV ... renders fine!
Turn on network render in LV but off in render to PV ... renders fine

So, yes, it is freezing when network render is on for render to PV and LV window is open (both with and without network render in LV)

Actually I think Topcoat is causing some issues for me. I had a few freezes while using Octane and since I moved Topcoat from the plugins folder they are gone.

We have had a lot of freezes with xrefs. Not sure it's even related directly to xrefs, but plenty of freezes, reloading material infinite looping (just says updating on bottom with scrolling "..."), and also some render failures. Was using network rendering in all cases as well. Reverted to Test 5.2 and had none of those issues with even the same scenes. Seemed to be a bit related to the scatter object, because if we took it out, less issues. 5.2 rendered it fine, so I think we're going to stay on that until v3

This version and V3 is based on same codes. This version and TEST version are based on same SDK. So network rendering is same. Render failures is not plugin issue.
Anyway if we can't find that you'll see same problems on V3. Why don't you send me better info?
