no there's definitely a bug . The only old installer I could find, as I clean my system quite regularly. I installed on poser 2014. It seems to work
OctaneRender_for_Poser_Beta_v1_13u_beta.zip

It would be worth trying the new installer again on 2014. If 1.13u works, 1.16a should work too.

Do you have a copy of the previous installer I could use to roll back if possible?.

The previous installer is virtual identical to the current one - there was a one line change in one of the pyc files. I can upload it is you want, but I am 99% certain it's something else.

also check firewall setting nothing has change. old version will work fine.

new installer does not work.

I'm also getting lots of trouble after updating the plug-in to 1.16a4.
I also have Reality installed.
Octane and Reality are both gone from the Render menu
Getting back the 1.14x version of the Octane plug-in made everything run fine again.

yes i have Reality installed. on poser 2012 only

but not on 2014,

but this issue. will not work on 2014,2012

i removed Reality from my system make sure that was not the problem

now get this error

I found the 1.16a installer in my download folder (I though I have deleted it already .. but apparently not =) ) and installed this one again.
Everything works fine with it.

So something in vers. 1.16a4 could be causing the new trouble.

Hm, that's the problem. It's a texture which comes with the LiveDB material, and I have no idea where it may get located locally. I scanned my complete hard disk, but with no success.

When you click the image button from the LiveDB material, the folder that you are taken to is where Octane expects the material to be.

No, sadly that's no longer the case with the new version. clicking on the image button now always takes me to the last used folder; it did work with older version, though not for "ocs:..." images. I'm on Win 8, if that makes any difference.

For LiveDB materials, the texture maps get saved in the Poser preferences folder (which you can check by opening a python shell and typing "poser.PrefsLocation()", and will generally be....C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Poser Pro\[9 or 10].

Posers script shell reports the path with some strange characters for umlauts ("\xfc" instead of "ü"), so maybe that's an issue. the prefs folder itself holds no images from the LiveDB.

Maybe the save you are working with was saved under the old system, and Windows deleted the image files when doing a disk cleanup.

Can't check more with the new version at the moment, because somehow I screwed the plugin installation completely, and can't start it anymore. Haven't figured out why still (something about an error in OctaneConfigutation.py, if I recall right) and went back to an older version for a render.

Can you check, if you get any image downloaded for the LiveDB material "Metal panels - scratched", anyhow?

You should be able to get the previous version of the installer by right clicking the current installer and looking under the version info.

I have installed the current version (1.16a4) on both my test sytems and everything runs fine for me.
