I'm preparing buying one laptop for another Octane license but now I'm think again. Hik hik.

Anyway, hope we can get some ways out of this situation.
But if you need something from the server for the software to work (code, scripts)...then if Cracked Octane thinks is connected (fake server) but it can't download\use the code needed...then it won't work i think. Personally i can accept this solution hoping that it will bring on the future some other good things on the table (cloud rendering maybe?)Lutze wrote:Sorry, but it is a bad idea. Two reasons:
1. You would be the first to stop piracy. No copy protection system up to date worked longer than a few days/weeks. Its a matter of time and some kid will crack this one too, making Octane believe it is connected to the server when it is not.

I can assure you that as a licensed customer, after the intermediate release (which will have a part of this system in it),
you will immediately love it, and realise it gives much more functionality to paying people than before.
We're not talking about a floating license check here, but a completely different way of working, which i've been carefully developing during the last months.
Instead of attacking the idea (please understand we have no other option if we want to stay in business by next year(), maybe try provide new ideas and ways we can enchance the use of octane with the new tightly webserver integrated octane...
Trust me, you will love the new system, it will blow our competition away in many areas.
As stenson wrote above, we will set a new trend with this.
