I got my gtx260 running @ 1.84 Msamples/s, it's factory overclocked to 625 Mhz as opposed to factory 576.. that seems to be a best buy for now it seems, fermi should run twice as that at least, or just twice as that ?
these are 260 vs 470 specs:
Gainward golden sample 260GTX
cuda cores> 216
core clock> 625
shader clock> 1348
factory
GeForce GTX 260
Stream Processors 192
Core Clock (MHz) 576 MHz
Shader Clock (MHz) 1242 MHz
GTX 470
CUDA Cores 448
Graphics Clock (MHz) 607
Processor Clock (MHz) 1215

Hi all,
I'm happy to announce that after finetuning octane for the fermi achitecture we have nearly doubled the speed.
I'm getting a consistent 4 MegaSamples/sec with one GTX480 card with the standardized benchmark scene.
I'm not finished though, so it might be more.
We will release a RC1 final soon with these optimalizations.

Awesome job Radiance!!! (Was getting a little worried when reading that the gtx480 was only 50% faster than gtx280 in the Octane benchmark) Twice as fast is more like it, maybe even more when better drivers arrive

here's the result of the new final 2.1 beta with the fermi optimizations.
This is with the 2.1 final / demo version, using the standardized benchmark with pathtracing scene on one Asus GTX480 with no overclocking, eg stock speed.
4.09 megasamples/sec

Hey, where's a good place (that delivers anywhere) to buy a 480 (cheap) with highest memory, should we wait for models with more gigabytes, like 6 gbDavidT wrote:I just downloaded the new 1.021 beta that was released on 4/26/10.
