Ah ok.. Well then I wasn't completely off the track then :) I read some old post before about instances, and just thought that it did work, but only in certain ways.. Then I know it only works the "particle way" then :) I didn't know why I could make a mesh, and pipe it into ice as a instance and it rendered, but not when doing it "manually". I will stick to particles then :)

Should be simple for single meshes.
Create nulls where the instances should be. Move all nulls in a group and use this group as source for a AddPoint in a IceTree.

For models with some meshes, it doesn´t work.
The solution is to select all meshes in the model and create a new mesh with Create->Poly.Mesh->Merge.
Don´t forget to merge the materials & uv´s.
This merged mesh you can now use as an instance shape in a IceTree.

Hope this helps.

Yeah i woud like to know that as well - any plans for a public beta? I hope Refractive won't take as long as Vray to integrate :P

Btw that's not directed at you Face - i don't know wether or not you're involved with the plugin or not, i just couldn't think of better thread to ask, the beta testers thread was closed.

It shouldn´t take so long as the vray plugin ;)
The problem is, the SI render preview doesn´t work correct on scaled outputs.
It´s a bug and also not fixed with SI2013. So a selfmade preview is the only solution which needs some time.

Thanks for the info face!

I'm really looking forward to this plug-in! Very curious how i can fit it into my workflow - just to use Octane's speed for a simple GI pass inside Softimage would be great 8-)

Hi Face,

Have you got the same pb with SI 2012 SAP ?

How many people upgrade to 2013 ;)

Thanks for your hard work

It´s the same problem with 2011, 2012, 2013 and a known bug.
I don´t know when it will be fixed maybe with 2014 ;)
It should even run on 2011-2013, so a fix isn´t a solution for this versions...
