Beta 2.2 RC1: SoftImage XSI plugin testing thread
Sounds great! About that depth of field thing, you might want to take a look at this thread again http://www.refractivesoftware.com/forum ... 6&start=10 Maybe you could join forces with Amplitude, his solution is very convenient, but, sadly, doesn't work in 2012.

Hello, i'm rendering lagoa cloth simulation using file cache mixed in animation mixer. After each export XSI's memory usage grows continuosly.
After approx. 50 frames it reaches the limit and crashes. Soft2Octane works better with memory, but it has other strange mesh-exporting glitch.
softimage 2012 sp1, octane pre-beta 2.43

Hi, I`m trying to run Soft2Octane, but after installing it, I only can access it via "view toolbars...". Anyway, when clicking in its icon I get amessage like this: argument or procedure call not valid SIAddProp.
Some help, please.

yes, I did, and intalled Visual C++ 2010 x64 too..
One naive question: is Soft2Ocatne compatible wiht XSI 7.5?
Thanks a lot.

It shouldn´t work with 7.5, it is compiled with the 2010SP1 SDK.
The problem is, to build it for various versions is realy time-consuming and 7.5 was ~3 years old.

having trouble figuring out how to export from xsi to octane, ive installed the addon but i dont see any octane in the export menu??? running vista 64bit and softimage xsi 7.01 64 bit essentials - anyone who can shed some light on what i should be doing please help im desperate to start using the render and i cant figure it out!
thanks in advance!
so i find that now i can click on -view -toolbars -octane and get an octane user add on tab with an octane logo'd button but when i click that button it gives me this error - invalid procedure call or argument 'SIAddProp' ????
just read the above post - does this mean there is no way to export from xsi 7 to octane??? that would really suck.
thanks in advance!

Im a little slow in the head today, but I was pretty sure that instances (not particle instances, but ordinary ones) was possible to export and render out in Octane (even though they are not "real" instances within Octane per-see)? I thought only instances within instances didn't work. However, today I made some geometry instances but only the master did show up. Did I miss something Face, or did I misintepret how it worked?

Instances doesn´t work.
They are a little bit tricky to handle because each instance can have an other instance or a real geometry in it and this instance can have also an instance and so on...
You can also move some instances in a model and make a new instance.
It´s similar a rendertree where some shaders can have multiple connections, just more complex.
The tree himself isn´t the problem, the problem is to get the right positions.
Maybe you can use clones, they should work.
