Because an OR material is applied in the object node level all inside has same material (color) - how can I apply multiple materials (colors/gradients)
to different parts/objects/selections/groups inside an object structure?

Will the color node be available - at the moment only mantra? In other plugin material color is native from app.

You can for example define groups in the base object and use the material node to set a Octane material to each group. The Octane plugin supports the primitive "shop_materialpath" attribute to set the material at polygon level.

I really appreciate your amazing support here - thats a great way to get multiple materials work.

Learned a lot in short time, but I realized with every new session that I am clicking so often
for close and reopen MPlay because of the bug - do we can expect an update shortly?

I thought the OR group solution is easy to recreate - but I am doing something wrong.

Can you please provide your example with the red/green torus for download so I
can have a look how the things has to be setup. Maybe this helps someone else ...

It is easy, you only need to select the polygons for a material group, and over the viewport press TAB and select the group feature. Later with the groups done you can add the material SOP node to assign a SHOP material for each group.

As soon as we have a new Octane build (that I suppose should be the 3.01 version) I'll update the plugin. Probably this week if all works fine.

So we have not to wait for long time - sounds great.

Create groups is not the problem - I did everything needed but it will not work.
What has to put in the material field from the object node? nothing? If I put the
material octane_vopnet1 into everything of torus has same color (its clear). If
I leave empty the group with assigned material1 node (group1 selected) has
no effect - torus is pink.

With particles the same - I think particles itself will not render in OR. But if
I put a copy to apply a sphere and try to put a material node - particles complete hidden.

You have the fasted support I have ever seen and kindly help for houdini starter problems - amazing.

Got it work now and want to ask if the new update will have LiveDB work? And do we get a complete
LiveDB download option to be able for add materials on the fly as presets like in my other 3D app?
Would be cool to use same materials in Houdini for OS X.
