I'm only testing some simple cubes right now because I'm waiting for the modo plugin.
Octane 2 uses up 10MB for some simple cubes, while the same scene in Octane 3 uses 350MB. If I set parallel samples to 16, it uses 690MB.
Is this a bug?
This is a massive difference (35 times greater mem usage than octane 2 using defaults)

Could the fog be made so that it is visible only when direct light hits it? Indirect light wouldn't do anything to the fog..
Would be great for interiors to mimic air dust particles..

Ok. Tested more real world production scenes with insane resolutions 8k - stereo fulldome...
The new frame buffer in comp memory is just God gift !
Forget my previous posts about Gpu memory usage in OR3. Now i see how it works.
The only side effect i have - small or Full HD resolutions. I don't have insane speed-up. I 'am experiencing some slowdowns . But i can live with that...
This new frame buffer... Omg... Just insane stuff.

Maybe somethings is wrong on your setup,etc.. We are using this since weeks. I tested lot of stuff. It's faster mostly with my setups. Speed difference is different on several scenarios. Depends to many factors.uncia wrote:Ok. Tested more real world production scenes with insane resolutions 8k - stereo fulldome...

I don't have much time to give proofs. Not good idea to be hurry for judging with a few quick tests.
Always check free vram. If you see zero vram usage, this means that's working from system ram.
