Octane has that little extra special thing that I could not find in other rendering software, why not improve on directlighting, why not add some GI as to jsut make it faster. I don't care for bunkspeed irays and all others. I really beleive radiance managed to get something really different with this software.. it feels more to me like I'm using my DSLR camera.. basically I set the lighting, there aren't many settings other than good/best.. everything else looks like postproduction, vigneting, tonemap - that's the stuff you usually do in photoshop od aftereffects..
It is enough just to render the same exact scene inside any of your native software and switch to octane, and somethin usually automagically happens..
It's unbiased and all, but it doesn't matter, the quality is here what ever you use... so why not improve and add some GI, like something you can save and reload and just make it plain faster than fast, in parallel with unbiased part of the story - anyway that way you can cover a greater market.. so why not..

Octane team should have like 15-20 people working for them, do the marketing, and get some money and replace the f-ing Vray and you can easily become the new rendering standard and show the other developers how the prices can be low and the quality excellent those Arion whores are unbilievably expensive - and the software is nothing better than fryrender, come on it was thousand euro, that is not right..

octane, the first thing all associations ... have to buy. I often get asked is there a crack? ..... No! They are buying .. it's not expensive! and behold VRAY just few people will buy

80% of users can not wait for 12:00 render! My girl only works with direct lighting ... DATE. Fake GI was, would be cool

PathTrace the groove is very long and very noisy! customers do not like it ( forcing render VRAY

The daylight scene can have a fake GI but the night scene not.
I can´t understand the problem...

If you want speed with pathtracing, wait for Octane with an implemented MTL like algorithm.

The background color "wash"the scene. Note that the sofa was white. After I reduced the power of the environment he has completely lost its original color.
Any tips?

More light power?

Maybe you can use the same tricks you use with biased renderer.
I know it only for daylight indoor shots. In Mental Ray you have portal lights.
This lights will be placed in the windows to help to iluminate the scene.
I don´t know if some techniques are existing for nightshots...

You can also try to use a gradient background. Top dark, bottom bright or vice versa...
