hmm, seems still a ignoring frame problem. Can you send me some details about your scene and system specs?

Hi Aoktar,

I also have to report a problem.

1. I have the same problem then ChrisVis
"I have seen some problem with changing for example the max sample value: If I do for example set it to 128 and render a frame with the picture manager and change the value after its done to lets say 3000 (or whatever), it still renderes the next frame with 128, although the settings tab keeps the value 3000...
Hope that helps and you can fix it."
I have to export the scene into the preview and then change the setting in order to remember it for final rendering.

2. When I render with Octane in the Picture Viever (Final Image) and Octane is finished rendering once I save the picture with "File" "Save As" after saving the picture C4D freezes and does not come back so I have to kill the process to close C4D.

EDIT
I just deleted all of the plugin out of the C4D plugin folders downloaded the latest version again and reinstalled it freshly and it seems to have solved the 2nd problem. Sorry for the inconvenience!

EDIT 2
I noticed that C4D still freezes from now and then. Mostly when I have rendered something in the picture viewer and then return to the Live Viewer to change lighting etc.
When I reload the scene to start rendering in the Live View C4D freezes and I have to end the process.

Rendering animations work fine for me. No crashes there!

Other things:

Realtime Updating:
When checking the live update function Octane always seems to be one step behind:
If I hava a plane and change the with from 100 to 150 the With in Octane is still 100.
If I then change it to 200 it will become 150 in Octane. If I then change it again back to 100 it will update to 200.

Also the same seems to be true for the camera. Always updates the value one frame ago.
Would be great to see a improvement for this!

Octane Object Tag:
I put a Octane Object Tag on one object with many sub objects and polys. It slowed down the viewport and also the real time capabilities in the Live Viewer to a amount I could not use it anymore. Maybe the Solution will be to put an option in the Octane Object Tag to only check for the Matrix (Position, Rotation, Scale) and not all points of the mesh. I believe that to be much faster! So if someone only has potition / rotatiion / scale animation he could tick the button.

Cheers,
Raphael

Hi silverwing and aoktar,

I still have the issue with the maxsample settings not updating correctly after a picture render manager job. I noticed, that it might has to do with numeric input: If I use the slider of the maxsample setting it seems to update correctly, if I just change the setting by numeric input from lets say 200 maxsamples to 1000 maxsamples, octane still renders with 200 maxsamples the next time. So maybe there is some bug with the slider / numeric field read out.

I also had random crashes with the object tag both while working and while animating (update mesh only), when a animated (position keyframed) joint object is in the null object tree, where I put the object tag on. Recognized it today, because one of my scene was constantly crashing after very short time, while trying to do a Low Res animation preview with the picture manager renderer. Deleted the tag of that tree (while other tags on other objects remained), and the scene now is rendering ok.

EDIT:
I just noticed that my scene is also crashing during animation when using "full scene update" option and disabling "mesh update every frame" and there still is an object tag in my scene. Deleted all object tags and rerenderd the same scene with "full scene update" active and it was fine.

Then yesterday suddenly the licencing error happend again, just after relaunching C4D after Octane crashed it (says it is used on another machine - C4Doctane is not in my startup layout - but I tried to put it there just some C4D starts before I think). My workaround is to delete the oct.dat, start C4D, re-enter my account data and then it works fine again. Now it seems to happen randomly again after C4D crashes. Bit of annoying, but acceptable.

Besides that, I have complex scenes I can render animations of 500-700 frames without any crashes, no need for the octane preview renderer anymore! And some other scenes where still some random crashes happen after 100-200 frames. Might have to do with the object tags... I need to have an eye on that when I do final rendering.

+1 for Silverwings suggestions about the object tag Position, Rotation, Scale only update options...

Cya,
ChrisVis

Not exactly as you say. It's updating values immediately but cannot refreshing. Because of pressing mouse button. C4D grab and take ownership refresh function and i cannot refresh live viewer on default C4D controls. But i can do on Octane sliders which are implemented by me.

yes, because voxelling is still not so fast process. Yes sure matrix operations is much faster, but this method needs some reorganisation and has some technical problems to do soon

possibly it's a plugin conflicting. Check your other plugins, and try to manually copy libs64 files to main folder
