Material ball pop-up is the biggest problem here too, i pick a material from the viewport, change its type (i.e. diffuse, specular, glossy, material mix) the material ball scene automatically comes to view. it doesn't pop up only when i select "portal" (which works fine by the way)

my biggest annoyance is when ever i change a material from diffuse to any other, it goes to the material preview on the ball. I dont want this, i want to edit my material to my scenes lighting and illumination set up. And for the past releases whenever i do change the material, ALL materials un collapse, then i have to minimize all of them it is EXTREMELY annoying.

Other then that im getting a a 5 minutes reduction on my renders with multigpu :D. It makes a big difference when you add another 512 to 512 cores.
And can someone please explain to me how portals work?

Try this link for an explanation on Sky light Portals. I know is for 3D Max but you should get the idea from it.

I tried the portal material without luck, I have no idea how to make it work, apart of this... the multi gpu is working AMAZING, twice the speed I had before, no I just wish I have something like this officially supported:

And then I could consider Octane Render really as a render engine killer.

You mean the material ball preview scene? It doesn't "pop up" here, when I make a change in the node inspector. What kind of changes do you make?
I just discover that 2.48 has been released. I am not on my workstation and I can't test it right now, but I have to say that
 this material ball preview "pop up" trouble was already present in 2.47 Test for me (sorry, I forgot to report it).

octane costs 99 euros! If each script will cost 60 euros, it somehow did not understand!
price is not adequate for the plugin

Hi there.
Just tested the new release with my new GTX 590 and I dont know ,but multy GPU
worked for me better with the preview release , even if the multy GPU not worked
properly with release 2.47. I know the sample counter has been updated ,but regardles
I think 2,48 is slower then 2,47. you shouldn't have changed anything about the Fps ore Ms/sec.
because now we cant compare with 2.47
regards

This looks mighty fine. Too bad its price is almost half the Octane beta's. I wonder if something like this will be developed by Refractive or exporter developers.

PMC is double time slower then PT :)

PMC seams to become very heavy comparing to ver.before

PT literaly eat all graph.card memory i never seen mes.like on pic

Older octane file didnt work on this ver. i had problem with camera. File was loaded but i was not able to move with mouse, only with keyboard input, numeric input in cam.setings

PMC and PT are somehow slow...i have feeling that i downgrade my card a little bit :) but that is probably cos i expected optimization of rendering engines

counter, including time of rendering is working, but bumpy...it works in waves...like my comp is choking

min_display_samples what is this ?
keep on good work

tested Portal.???
don't really see the point . shouldn't portal light speed up the rendering,IMO yes.
but here it is slower then specular ??.I am normally not the person who complains
but i don't really see the point of this release .am I the only one ?
