If you could send us the scene we can investigate. Currently I'm not aware of any FBX loading issues.Notiusweb wrote:Hi Abstrax, thx so much for your help on the Vertex scene.
I have another finding involving subdivision-
I can replicate bringing different character FBX meshes into a scene, and whenever I try to apply subdivision on the FBX settings, to all meshes >0, Octane crashes.

This release works like a charm so far.
However the render region lasso in viewport wont toggle off correctly: after using it, the red marquee disapears but the render stays restricted to the region.
Anyone else faces the same problem?
Cheers

I've also encountered this issue, when round edges feature brakes the topology of a CAD modelLewis wrote:Ok, i did more testing on this Edges Rounding and Octane is definitelly doing something wrong, it breaks on many areas and it's nowhere usable (CAD models are ones that need this most). I compred it to Modo rounding edge feature which works perfect on this model so it IS possible to make this work correct but it's still problematic and Buggy in Octane for some reason.
Can someone help on this? Should i send it somewhere as official BUG report or this is enough here ?
Thanks
Hope rounded edges will be improved in the future releases

We leave it on, because you might want to use other tools. To disable region rendering enable the region render lasso selection and just click anywhere in the viewport. This will reset the render region to the full frame.Kalua wrote:This release works like a charm so far.

unfortunately, the crash issue is not solved completely. it is working well with only one workstation active. but as soon as i enable my networked mac with macos or pc with windows, the new version of app will have exactly the same crash as before (with decompressing thread crashing). same issue as well with the LW plugin, it will crash as soon as i enable it. when i shutdown all network machines, all is back to normal again.abstrax wrote:Just for your information: We just updated the release builds for OSX and Linux since various people reported that Octane crashes during startup after the cuDNN library was downloaded. Please let us know if the problem persists even with this build.
Specs: Apple MacBook Pro M1 max 64GB 2TB, MacOS 12.5 / MacPro 5,1 with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 8G, MacOS 10.13.6 / Mac Pro 5,1 with AMD RX5700 8G, MacOS 12.3.1 / HP Z600 with NVIDIA 3060 RTX 12G, Windows 10 pro + Netstor GPU box, 4 x NVIDIA GTX 980ti 6G.
i made a further experiment with the crash issue when RC4 is networked. if i disable networking inside the octane app and start the app with a networked machine running a slave, i will have no crash. when i enable networking on the local workstation, as soon as i select the node with the checkbox, and it tries tho authenticate, the app crashes. see screenshot before the crash.
