@Jaberwocky, could you test the same scene on a higher resolution, to see if your CPU usage will increase. On my system the CPU is almost fully occupied (both cores) when rendering in hi-res. I thought this was happening only on Linux.

Hi ! Thank you for this release.

I have done a first trial : The alpha shadow works fine, and that's a great improvement !

however, I have noticed two bugs :

 One is a very old one (not very important but I already reported it several times) : When the Image Zoom Invert button is enabled in the preferences, the Image Zoom is not inverted, but instead the Image Zoom doesn't work at all !

 When using Subsampling buttons, an horizontal bar is displayed at the bottom of the render view during the few seconds subsampling is active (when moving in the scene).

I hope that the multiple GPU will be supported soon, because speed very low on my current big scenes !

This is interesting:

I have run a test render on the previous version of Octane and this version on one of my scenes.

Old version 0.72 FPS
New version 0.78 FPS

Now seeing as i use a GTX 460 1GB i was expecting to see around 1.08 FPS now that it's compiled using Cuda 3.2 and is supposed to be using all of the GPU cores.
Maybe even around 1.1 if the code had been optimised to run a bit faster seeing as i have gained a further 1/3rd of my cores back. However this is not the case.

Also the question arises as to why Octane is knocking the hell out of one of the CPU cores if the processing is being done on the GPU ?

Every time i turn on alpha channel, screen is getting wrong.
I tried directlighting, pathtracing, daylight ... It makes always.
336 cuda cores on my 460 work fine :) .
Sorry my English.
The workaround for the problem is already posted a few posts up..
your image dimensions has to be multiple of 8

It does not work. My image dimension is multiple of 8.

To Matej

for Info. I run an overclocked 1055T processor running at 3.4GHz from the stock 2.8 GHz with 4 cores disabled.

The scene i have been testing with ran at 0.78 FPS when at 3.4 GHZ and when i set it back to the stock 2.8 GHZ so the Processor is not holding back the render speed.

Interesting..
Actually it did my solve my problem.

I dont know how you input your dimensions but.
For me there used to be a problem when changing the dimensions. I dont know if it has been corrected or not.

But my way of entering the new dimensions is like.... :

You have to enter the numbers one at a time.
First the width then press enter. Wait for the image to establish the dimension. Then enter height and press enter again.
That's how it worked for me. Using TAB key after entering width wasn't changing the dimension in previous versions.
Maybe this could help you

alpha channel is great !!! and thats a nice improvement, but personally I think we re not gonna see better renders after this release :)

we could make alpha in our main programs ( but ye shadows and alpha is BIG PLUS )

Ofcourse its not bad ... its a great release... but Its not gonna change all the competition entries in dramatical way :) like the demo/full version did.

Anyway .... grats for Team for moving forward !!
