I still havent tried this out yet. I have a couple ongoing projects so I can't move from the standalone yet...

I am excited to use it however, if only for being able to move lights around and get real time results would be enough.

I've tried cycles a little (used an interior), speed was so much worse and I had a lot of fireflys in comparison to the same scene in Octane. It could have been just me not knowing cycles though.

I think Octane is a better route? And with the cloud rendering coming "soon", it will really change things.

Hi, since a while Blender Octane is lagging during render preview or F12.
I don´t know when this happen first time exactly.
I use HD 4000 (i5) for display and my GTX 760 for render.
Octane Standalone is working smooth as always.
Could somebody verify?

Cheers, mib.

My preview is slow to, granted tho I only have 1 -560ti (ô¿ô)
I noticed something interesting today was after I finished my render, saved the image, shut down blender...
I forgot to close the render server, and I noticed a heavy lag on my system, ( I should have check the mem usage :/ )before I closed the render server, but once I closed it my system is back to normal.
Cheers,

Hi Jimstar,

Octane Server crashes while being in render mode on doing the following steps:
1. move object in scene
2. change material settings in node editor results in crash of octane server

By default there will be added a cycles diffuse material when creating a new material
on an empty material slot. Can this be changed to a standard octane material?

Thanks.

Thank you for report, I will check it.

I just try to not change blender"s core code too much, to take the default releases easy patchable by Octane module... I will think how to do this feature the best way...

Hello!

I have a bit of a strange behaviour that I have narrowed down a bit since I posted in the 1.1 beta section.

When I have a non square image loaded when UV-unwrapping, the projection of the square plane takes the exact form of the texture. This is true for all textures that are non square.

Also, I can´t figure out how to show the texture from the UV-mapping process in regular shading mode as I can in Blender. Pretty handy thing since I tend to use UV-grid textures when I UV-unwrap. This does not work for me in material mode either where you have to do a node based setup in order to see a texture.

Is this a bug or should I be doing something different in BlenderOctane?

First image is from BlenderOctane with a non square projection, and the second from Blender with a correct projection.

Thanks!

Is this the right place to post questions like this? In the beta 1.1 there where a bunch of bug reports, but in 1.2 it´s mostly about getting the plugin running. Am I the only one facing this shader and projection issue?

Hi all...

After starting the render the “Waiting for image” message is displayed. I've tried to enter my login and pass from my OctaneLive™ account many times, but it doesn't help :-(

best regards

Hi msciwiarski, I had this problem too first time trying Blender for Octane.
I had to reinstall Octane Server, start Server, start Blender for Octane, copy > past login and pass.
Do you use login and pass for Octane for Blender?
It is different to your Octane Standalone login and pass.
Sometimes stop and start of the Octane Server helps too.
You need Internet access for the first login.

Cheers, mib.

Im using the OctaneLive login and pass.. In the Octane for Blender manual I can find the words:" Upon launching the rendering for the first time, the user will need to enter the OctaneServer™ address (only local machine OctaneServer™ is supported at the time) and log in information of their OctaneLive™ account. The OctaneLive™ information can be found in the customer area of the OctaneRender™ website."
