well, net is once again full of rumors..- let's wait few months to see what will come out of this =) I'm just curious how long nVidia will canbalise their PRO market with GTX line before they will decide to cut the ends forcing it's user to shift over tesla product line or go lookng for othersolutions..

Unfortunately I need this system now to finish a big work

in February we will see if the Titan will out and the first model will have 3GB instead of 4GB....
After few months we will see (never) announced the 6GB...

If a GTX model with 6GB will out this year Nvidia will not sell Tesla cards anymore.
quad Titan Kepler 6GB + quad Titan X Pascal 12GB + quad GTX1080 8GB + dual GTX1080Ti 11GB

If you are having problems with PCI extension cables there is a way to fix it. I have the ones where the cables are cut to desired lengtth and then on each end comes a plastic part with metal forks, each fork penetrates insulation of one wire and hugs it so it could lead electricity. What happened is that the end wires weren't hugged well because they are at the end and tend to unhug mor easily then the ones in the middle. All I had to do is to push the last fork from side to the center so it would hug the last wire properly, I used a metal screwdriver. I did this on both sides of the cable and assembled it again and now I have no problems at all. Previously it was a gamble, on one startup GPU would work and on the other it wouldn't. These cables are manufactured to have many interconections and of course this increases the chanses of something going wrong. This cable is then plugged into series of male pins which are welded on the piece of a board which has contacts to connect to MB and GPU and this happens on both sides.

Having hardware encapsulated in a case is so old school. All of my computers are open air style, gives them better ventilation and they heat up the room more efficiently in winter days. ;)

I bet your cat would go crazy for those green flashing memory LEDs

Fortunately I only have two little kids but they learned not to touch daddies equipment. I push the box more towards the wall so it is not really that bad.
