I tested it quickly this evening and it works well with the 6.5 64bit so far.

Workflow wise I have a little suggestion to make: it would be nice if the export or render frame function ignore the objects that are flagged as hidden or on a layer with the "renderable" thickbox unchecked. I always have some reference objects, card with ref pictures, low res meshes and so on that I put on non renderable layers and it would be nice to not have everything exported to octane :D

Apart from that, congrats for the great work face! :)

Thanks :)
Hidden should be not exported.
At least with the v2.2 exporter it should work.
I read for a mesh the viewvis parameter.
It´s unchecked, it should not export.

To check if the parameter in xsi6.5 is the same as i checked, open the explorer, double click the visibility and uncheck the "View visibility" checkbox.
Open the script editor and show the message.
It should like as the first image below.

You can also use the debug information.
To use them, enter a command in the script editor and execute the command.
After that, hit any render button. Preferred the render frame button while then you don´t want to select an output image and the Octane scene must not exists.
Now you becomes some infos. Important for you is the upper section. There you can see the objects that will exported.
See the output and the command on the last image.

Give me then a feedback ;)
Hope that helps a little.

thanks for the super fast reply !

I double checked and the hidden and viewvis flags are working as expected: the objects are not exported. That's great!
The viewvis flag works also for layers.
However in my humble opinion it would be more handy to lookup the rendervis flag in that case , thus enabling some objects to be visible in the XSI viewports as you work but not being renderable.

I can add the rendervis parameter also. No problem ;)
I will update the addon in 5minutes, then i can implement it.

Thank you face for the XSI exporter! Works very nice!

Question.. How do you do with materials when working on an animation?

First you render out one still, creating a new .ocs scene and make all adjustments on materials etc. And then you just hit render animation inside XSI and it will only replace the meshes but keep the materials or did I get it wrong? (Just tried very simple boxes with deformation for now)..

yes, it will keep the materials relinked in the project OCS file.

Thanks and yes, youre right, as radiance says.
But you should download the latest Addon, i don´t know which version you use.
In the previous one was a bug that Octane ever create a new scene.
I´ve added also a little video...
