good news: i was wrong with this (at least the float problem), because in fact it's related to my spacepilot which sometimes changes the camera position if i put down something on my table :lol: thankfully there is a button to lock the viewport - really important in combination with a 3dconnexion device...

but i noticed something else lately: while having really large meshes with an awful lot of nodes, the _node inspector_ won't accept direct changes to "mesh-embedded" materials in the range of around 100 and up; connecting a material or macro to such nodes fortunately helps.
The obvious is that which is never seen until someone expresses it simply

Is it just me not noticing, but just did a render that was set to stop at 16000 samples. The image wasn't what i was looking for so i decided to up the samples to 40000. Octane picked up rendering from that position. WOW! If I recall it used to start over from scratch or maybe i was impatient back then. LOL!
