Hello,

On the latest free build which is 2020.1.5 - Engine v.21.14, when using primitive spheres to render some particles how do I change the material or at least the color of the particles(spheres)?

Thanks

So I got this error when I tried to switch render engine to Octane. No matter what I did, it still went to this

Seams to have the same problems as the other.
I've installed Octane Free Tier 2020.1.3 on Linux + Server and I got "No Render-Server at address 127.0.0.1 after I did a first render test. It's a pity since the previous version Free Tier was working perfectly.

Just an update. It works but the Octane Server seems to crash a bit more than in the past. In Linux, I keep open the "System Monitor" to check that the "Octane Server" process is running to avoid the previous error message.

doesn't seem to work form me, at all
it is stack at: Rendering | Watitng for image...

also from some time each time I start Octane Server
it demands to be activated (again and again, each and every time)
it is not big deal but it is kinda annoying..

so, does anybody have similar problems
or know how to solve them?
I had the sane problem where it kept saying Waiting for image...
Updating my GPU drivers fixed it for me.
good hint, indeed I haven't updated drivers for half a year or longer, thx, much obliged

Hi,

Lino helped me with this issue on the Facebook page of Octane Free for Blender. First of all, the problem happens when you import points/particles as alembic from another software and if they are animated. The solution is this which might not really be a solution but a work around, that works perfectly:

"Just add one vertex object and turn on Primitive sphere for it. Add a material. You can now change it and the sphere will react properly. Now parent the object to the main alembic object and turn on instancing for verts. Done!"

Wanted to help anybody if they had the same issue.

Keep rendering!!!

Hi there! I've just downloaded plugin and server. Installed and start both. But render stucked with "Rendering - Waiting for image" message
Previous version of Octane worked well. GPU 2080Ti. RAM 128 GB.
It stuckes even on simple empty scene.
I'll be grateful for any advice. Thanx.

@axelts
Hi,
So is there a Linux version out? Or are you running within Wine?
I didn't see a Linux version in my downloads.
