great, please don't ignore this message also:
I have found a possible point and l though that's fixed for rc2. liveviewer was open when this last frame crashes? try to close and render.

Yeah, I guess it helped. By closing liveviewer it renders fine. Thanks!

I never have Live Viewer open when rendering. The hangup happens very sporadically. The hangup does not happen on Mac. I'll report back if it hangs again.

Hard crash after rendering 18 frames RC2 test1. Computer restarted itself. No bug report was generated unfortunately. No live viewer.

I'll check the new release tomorrow when I get sober somehow :D
However I tried all possible combinations (live viewer on/off, materials reduced, naming changed, and so on and so on...)

There is a problem IN THE END!! Just after the renderer saves an image, and wants to start a new image!! I think that this is very very very important and can be a clue to understanding the render crash!

I would say that if it was an isolated occurrence. Happens from time to time and only during rendering.

I'll investigate more tomorrow about possible HW issues. Seemed to happen more after turning SLI off, then wasn't an issue for a few octane versions. this is the first time this has happened since before .96 came out. However if I'm the only one thus happens to, then you are most likely correct. Maybe I should try SLI on again. I didn't notice any performance difference with it on and it seems more stable.

hello,
i am not shure if i completely wrong but i thought that one can drive the distribution of an arealight wiht an HDR-Image too. but the result looks really strange. as is something is going completetly wrong with the internal mapping of the HDRI. i prepared a testscene. just move the cam around and look at the arealight. the HDR-Image is not fixed to the arealight.
thanks in advance! :)
