Are you using primitives option with AI lighting? It should help a lot. Thanks for feedback!Kalua wrote:Hi, Aoktar!
Overall this plugin version is really stable.
One question: I have this interior scene in which I work with exterior light and interior spot lights: they are inside a cloner. INe of the spot cleans light very well while another struggles a lot to clean. Why does that happen? - Please refer to picture.

I am using primitives and AI light whenever I can.
I am able to use .ies files into shader's emitter slot. I cannot reproduce the same effect with light emitter on primitives - an .IES file in distribution slot for a primitive square light - if there is something I am missing please tell me.
What I don't understand mainly is why, 1 out of 3 instances, there is a different noise pattern.

Update: It turns out noise pattern is coming from exterior light, in which case is a planar light (rectangle) with primitive turned ON.aoktar wrote:Are you using primitives option with AI lighting? It should help a lot. Thanks for feedback!Kalua wrote:Hi, Aoktar!

I attach two pictures: the noise pattern appears when AI is ON. AI off eliminates this pattern.
Not the first time I see this issue (first time I saw was one or two versions ago 2018 or maybe v4).

I attach another example where AI light makes it harder to clean.
I know these are exceptions, AI light works mostly great!

Probably not new in this build, but i had my renders ruined with a VDB that has volume emission enabled.
When a mesh with a medium intersects the voxels, i get very strange artifacts. Octane really is super glitchy and slow with volumes.. Either the volumes intersect themselves, or they cause artifacts with transparent textures on medium-high step lengths.
Is there a way to avoid these? Doesnt matter if the mesh has absorption, scattering or randomwalk medium. Step length does not have an effect on it (lower length, no improvements)

Yes and i dont know if its this version or r23 that i migrated or both, but it lags a lot with TFD. Viewport/LV lag.Dazhai wrote:Octane really is super glitchy and slow with volumes..
I think volumes need a lot of improvement in core, they feel very heavy in both render times/viewport
Hi guys,
did you see the new features in 2021.1 SDK?
viewtopic.php?f=33&t=77764
Both AI Light and Volume rendering are under revision.
Here is the link to the first c4doctane version based on the new SDK (not ready for production):

And some details on the new Volume rendering system:

Hey Beppe,
Thanks for the link. Yes i am aware of development, but this just for overlapping, its not about volume performance which is poor at the moment. And while im used to slow rendering, I am not used in lagging this heavy in lv with a single frame in tfd with a few mil voxels.
Let me know if you have similar issues or i can share a scene.
Thanks

Thanks, Beppe. I didn't remember it: good to know.bepeg4d wrote:Hi guys,

Yes please, share a scene with me that shows the issue.thanulee wrote:Hey Beppe,
