Hi Juanjo,

I'm now a proud owner of a Houdini Indie license :D I've also managed to install Octane and it basically works within Houdini. However, when I preview the scene via the IPR viewer, all objects are shaded in magenta. Even adding new Octane materials to the objects don't change that. Any ideas why and how I can fix this? Thanks for letting me know.

Have you assigned the Octane material as an object property? If so there may be Mantra or other non-Octane materials assigned via a material node in sops. This would override the object property assignment causing Octane to use the pink diffuse where it can't find a valid material.

If that is not the problem you may want to post screengrabs or a hip file.

Yes, a magenta surface means that the object doesn't have a valid Octane material (or any material at all). How are you creating the materials and assigning them to the objects?

Thanks,

Hi Juanjo and Jandress,

Thanks a lot for your suggestions! :) Will keep them in mind for next time. Meanwhile I realised that the path I had entered for the material in Houdini (applying it to a geometry node) was too 'deep'. I had entered "shop/octane_glossy1/octane_vopnet", when I should've stopped at "shop/octane_glossy1". You live and learn ;)

The final full support of the OSL nodes exposing the OSL parameters as input pins, and the .orbx proxy referencing are the two main features that are under development right now, so I hope to have good news about them soon ;)

Thanks,
-Juanjo

Hi Juanjo,

Awesome, so we may have soon!, this will be really good for us we can't wait to have our hands on that proxys! The C4D version with the preview of the mesh is really good, Maya Plug has just a Box which is not a bounding box is sometimes hard to work with. What your plans on preview mesh of the orbx?

Cheers,
JO
