Why "desperately" ?

What is it that you cant' do in LW2015.3+Octane that you think you will be able to do in LW2018+Octane ?

Noise reduction system will come only in the 3.09 version of Octane. In the 3.08 version from the new - new shaders (Toon-shaders) and some update old materials.

I can't speak for others but for me, I didn't upgrade from 11.6.3 to 2015 so upgrading to 2018 I have only one option to use Octane, WAIT until plugin is released or stay on 11.6.3.

I'm sure there is a very polished beta that has been distributed and you may even be a tester, so it's not a big deal for you, as you are able to use your tools. But for others it seems we wait for a final "build" from CORE. I get it, but frustrating and disappointing for many of us.

We be a nice gesture from otoy and Juan to post the beta and name it as such, as the final builds come together...

.
Hmm bu there is Octane 3.07.x and 3.08 builds RIGHT now for LW 2015.3 and LW 11.6 too so even if you didn't upgrade to 2015 you still can use same way octane in 11.6.
That's the part what i don't understand, what is expected that LW 2018 will bring to table for OCTANE what octane+LW 2015 or 11.6 can't do (with octane)?

Albeit I wouldn't call my situation desperate by no means, I still would like to work my scenes with LW2018 before hitting 'render' or surfacing. I surely could make use of any speed increase in OpenGL and geometry handling available right now. Also, when cooperating with others, and since some scenes and objects can cause issues going back to 2015, it's kind of practical to stay current from day one. And that's just some scenarios even before taking consideration of the very features of the new Octane iteration.

Just having the present 2015.3 plugin's features in 2018 would be great. Yet I understand why one would code the brand new plugin for all versions and not waste developer's time coding a plug-in that won't last current more than a few weeks. And yet, it surely wouldn't waste any of my time, right now, if I could just start a project with the current implementation of Octane running in 2018. :-)

Again, I wouldn't call that situation desperate, but I wouldn't dismiss the point entirely right off the bat without consideration either. I wouldn't mind having it now, whichever version, to work in 2018. It's been a long wait. :-)

It's even more urgent that the render engine of LW2018 is not super fast!
We have ODTools, LWcad, so, waiting for Octane and all is perfect !

Working in 11.6.3 with great plugin support while my 2018 sits idle waiting on this plugin to get updated. Nothing special in 2018 other than modeler works faster (spinning and zooming around in larger models) and Layout is more responsive. So I have a nice shiny car that I paid for with no GAS to put in it :)

That's all. It will come shortly. Was going to be last week, now it's another week...waiting patiently. My two 1080 ti's will be in shortly...hopefully a new release will sync up with that UPS truck. :)

Sorry for the delay. The new plugin builds, including the proper LightWave 2018 plugin version will be available just after the release of the upcoming new 3.08 Octane core. Not before, sorry ...

Thanks,
