I can´t see why not?

In theory, yes, as RealFlow supports OpenVDB: RealFlow documentation.

well then you're going to have a lot of time to learn the ins and outs before 3.0.

From what I remember of Realflow, once the particle simulation has been done, you still have to wrap the generated cloud of particles in a solid mesh, in order to to have something to render. So it's already possible to use realflow in Octane 2. How those crude particles will be handled by Octane 3? I'm curious!!

Anyway, realflow will maybe not be useful anymore for us in a few time, since Nvidia developed algorithms for its gpus to mimic realflow's behavior… in realtime! Of course, not with the same level of accuracy, but we're making motion graphics, not engineering. That's a real gamechanger because computation in realflow is still a veeeeeeery long and painful process in my opinion.

Finally. I have never understood Realflow pricetag. Sure, it does amazing water, but, it´s still just one thing. If we were to do a relative comparison based on different features, Octane Render would cost about 100 000 dollars and another 100 000+ dollars for the reguired 3d application. Ridiculous.

Mind racing with all kinds of possibilities....

Back in 2.x Wishing Well, many moons ago, and I think in another thread as well, we seemed to have some guys (besides myself) really interested in a boolean subtract function in Octane. The reason I mention this is that with PTex coming, this seems like this would be child's play for Team to add somewhere in 3.x cycle. The thought of using instances, either static or animated, to subtract from geo, and leave their textures in their empty wake, would be epic... Marcus & Co, please give this some thought. Guys, you would want this feature, right?... Right?!!!

If you are talking about boolean's at the time of rendering like Renderman does... Oh yeah I think that would be an awesome feature.

Good idea

That would be cool. But I have a nagging feeling that if the existing rounded edges feature still has some struggles, boolean operations would be even more troublesome for Octane.

please don't forget Naiad and Krakatoa particles supported..also,the most important thing,is the motionblur for fluid particles
