Hi t_3

you know I am having issues with the `film grain` bug in this scene we have been talking about, well, I have another issue with this scene that I can reproduce..

Each time I choose my obj in the mat tab and then select nodegraph editor, Daz crashes! BUT, only when it is a obj with a blackbody emission set up!
Removing the obj from the scene and then re-importing it allows it to be to set it up again (which results in the crash again) after leaving the mat tab, going to a new one and then going back to the mat tab and clicking on nodegraph editor!

Clicking on nodegraph editor in the mat tab OR clicking the animation button crashes DS!, Could be linked might not be!.. you decide :P

Ok, this gets annoying, it happened a few times now...

Sometimes when setting up a scene and changing the kernel from PMC to Direc Light or vice versa Studio crashes.
AND I CANNOT REOPEN THE SCENE!
I have found no workaround to make these scenes work again.
Hours spent setting something up and badabum - start from scratch...

sorry to hear that!

& two important points about that: if opening a scene file results in a crash, this is not necessary the end. if a bug is fixed, there is a pretty good chance that this will also allow to reopen a scene that was crashing before. and the 2nd point: i need crash reports - otherwise i'm not able to help or find the reason. whenever it happens, whenever possible - please send me crash reports, log files, descriptions, whatever. we are 13 days into the public beta, and as much as i'd like to have it mature and stable already - it will need a little more time to get there...

PS: Just ordered a 2 GB GeForce GTX 660 Ti, Not exactly high end of the chart but, it should kick my system up the A$$ a little bit with a texture limit of 112 & 1344 cuda cores (rather than my current 336)..

OK, heres a quick update on how things stand right now..

If I create a new project and load in all my `set` OBJs and render just that (with blackbody emissions, which i can edit!) then all renders fine as a PNG sequence with out the alternating film grain `effect`..

BUT, Saving the scene after adding the blackbody emission is not perminant! After saving & exiting DS and reloading the project I click on the light bulb OBJ and then on nodegraph editor and (suprisingly it does not crash at this point but) the blackbody emission has been removed from the chain!

Also,

As soon as I load in my characters (M4_Cyborg & a Genesis character), then things start to go wrong!

Sometimes I get a crash when hitting the render animation button, but when this crash does not happen then the alternating film grain `effect` comes back!

would it be possible to get the scene file? also a new bunch of crash reports could help. and please note, there were currently no measures to overcome that frame skipping, so, at least, it is not meant to be any better. crash when hitting "render animation" doesn't sound exactly good to my left ear though...

there were currently no measures to overcome that frame skipping, so, at least, it is not meant to be any better.
So for this current project (and possibly others trigering the same issue) there is currently no way to render a PNG/JPEG sequence/animation :(

I will put a zip together of scene & crash data and PM it to you ASAP BUT, do try and get some rest!

My posts are not meant to rush you and you NEED to focus on getting better! Any issues I am having can wait until your engines running on full, my posts are to keep you updated (not intending to push you) and can wait as long as needs be ok :)

PS: Another thing I noticed :roll: ..

When using MERGE to create the new project, it merged all my old cameras with my new ones (as expected as the merge option does not bring up a dialog box asking you what you want to merge!) but..

In the DAZ SCENE tab the cameras do NOT show up to remove from the scene, where as they do show up on the camera dropdown section of render setup in the render tab (your plugin).. I see duplicates camera 1 AND camera 1 (2) How do I remove the duplicate cameras from the scene if they dont show up in Daz scene tab but are there in the render setup dropdown list?

well, from my pov ths should not happen at all, since there were not direct changes in this area. so a proven crash will help to identify the reason causing this hopefully fast...
The obvious is that which is never seen until someone expresses it simply

normally it is not the saved data itself. there is nearly no way that it gets corrupted, or mixed up in a way it cannot be restored. and in this case it is most probably a side effect of something else...
