I tested your scene. There seems to be a bit of a misunderstanding. I'm not using the same material for the small and the large object. I just use the same bump map image. Their materials have different scales in the UV transformations. In fact, they could even have the same UV maps, just the transformations for the bump map are different. In your file the small and the large object share the same material, yet have different UV maps.

I know you're using different materials. I've made the scene just to show that there's a way to solve the issue when applying the bump to different sized objects. Of course that implies joining the meshes into one, then recreate the UVs and eventually divide the parts again into separated objects, if needed.
That's the only way to solve both the transform and bump intensity issue in one go, using just one material.

I really hope we can solve the intensity bump issue when UV projection is used, as you asked.

Thanks for your efforts. I have faith that the devs will find a solution. I'll use the normal maps for now till something changes.

So it turn out this issue has been solved in Octane 2023 already!

There you'll find a new Bump height option in each material node.

So from now on, the texture power should be left at 1.0, and the "power/strength" should be controlled using the new Bump height instead (which is in meters).

We just need to wait for Octane 2023 to be integrated in Blender.

I just read about that this morning in the 2023 announcements. That's good to hear although I can imagine it will be a long time until this will come to free tier Blender. Anyway - something to look forward to. Thanks.

As with the new addon version 28.3 and with the introduction of the Bump Height value in the material node, the issue seems to be solved now. Thanks to the devs.
