Just wondering if there is any chance this issue with the Octane Server taxing the CPU being solved any time soon?

Thank you!
Hi!
Sadly it doesn't look like there's an easy solution to this, since this is a very "system specific" issue. It would be nice to understand if this happens on all system using your same CPU.

Hi

I think J.C mentioned that on his 3950 Threadripper he gets the same 100% CPU usage when tumbling so it appears to happen elsewhere as well.

Would really hate to have to change the whole machine to an Intel one because of this issue.

Is there a way to test Octane in Blender on my machine without the Octane Server?

Did you try the latest stable 2.79 version?

Does the 2.79 v of Blender have Octane interactive rendering in the viewport?

I am using both 2.8 stable and 2.79 stable :
I cannot see a difference with interactive Render Previews, functionally.

Zooming, panning, rotating views, switching cameras, all behave.

The and the only difference I am noticing is regarding Launching a Render when in the Render Preview mode.

With 2.79, when in Octane Render Preview, you can launch a Render and the Preview will automatically give way to the Render (much better than in 2.8 - we have to switch out of Preview to launch Render).

Note: I have not done much with render area previewing.

What i was wondering if you can have Octane interactive render in 2.79 inside the viewport not in an outside window?

Both programs afford both options.

I use both with the Preview in my working 3D viewport, not an outside window.

When I first used 2.8, it defaulted to an outside window.

I switched this (trying to remember how......)

Just tested 2.79 , it was even slower than 2.8 . Same Spiking of the CPU. :(

I have added an image of how the graph of the CPU looks like.

Shoot! Sorry there is no relief.

If of interest for developers, my cpu = AMD Ryzen 9 3900x. So far so good.

Actually, I have something for you to try based on the following:
When I first got my new machine, the first file I opened was a large file which I had been made on my previous system. It tumbled as you are experiencing, that is barely at all. I did not review the CPU data, but I bet it was similar.

The fix for me was to start with a new default file and append each element into it systematically. Ultimately, each element once appended into the new file provided me a file that worked great.

You might try this.

The CPU graph looks a lot like a sine wave.. :/

Does it peg all cores or just some? (Switch the graph to logical processors)
