It would be very useful for rendering for VR since Carrara can't render above 16000px and also for adding effects like fire and smoke that I think are coming in Octane 3?
Thanks again for all the hard work you have put into this plugin :)
The alembic is created when you select generate animation. You will find it in the same directory as the image files. You can also export an orbx after you generate an animation from the viewport window.. This will also contain the alembic.
When I select Object Blur/Alembic in the Carrara Settings window, Generate Animation is greyed out - it becomes active if I select Camera Motion blur, but only if Object Blur/Alembic is not selected. Am I doing something wrong?

Quite an endorsement - and I whole-heartedly agree!

Figured out what I did wrong - I didn't have a filename prefix assigned - it works now :)

Well now I can get the alembic file into the standalone, but there isn't a camera pin to attach to the Render Target.
The picture in the manual has a blue circle on the .abc node, but when I import an alembic, there is no blue circle.
Does this mean there is no camera path in the file?

The camera path is not stored in the alembic. It is stored in the .ocs or .orbx.
