Ultra fast out of core CPU texture - "...so you can use system memory..."
I already don't have enough system RAM to fill my 3GB GPUs... I hope that it will not eat more, as I can't add more in my machine.
This is the second time I read a statement like that. I thought that a scene is only loaded into the GPU's memory and the system's memory doesn't get drained. Or am I wrong...
Really interested video presentation, I wonder though how much of the DirectX and OpenGL claims will come true. History has proven many time that it's not always the best solution that get adopted, unfortunately... Either way I got very pumped and will definitely upgrade to 2.0.
Thanks OP.

That's a feature of version 2.0, this thread is about version 2.x

Does that means Octane will use system memory in addition to the video card on-board memory?
Yes.

So vram gets needless? That should be on the front page...
Can we get a little more info on that?

The goal is that VRAM would not be a hard limit anymore, at least for normal textures.

Also, I'm fairly sure (at the moment) the LW Plugin doesn't have access to Lua. May be wrong.

If Filterforge (which uses Lua also and can act as a photoshop filter) could be integrated to work with Octane and cached textures like that it would be awesome...

"99€ for the update from 1.x to 2.x
update includes one 1* party plug-in"

Does this mean I get standalone + one plug-in from this site for 99€?
I have Poser and Rhino Plug-In. I hope the plug-ins will get some fair discounts as well.
99€ for standalone+ 1 plug-in is a fair price, indeed. Just wondering if they will give discount on allready bought plug-ins as well.

(Sorry if this is not a right pace to post it) Any plans for a dual (or more) monitor setup? The nodegraph editor would be easier to work with on a separate monitor.
