I have to admit that I should have had more faith in OTOY's developers. When it was announced that 1.5 would have no more new features, I was bummed and figured it would be a long time before I saw the additions I needed. But look how fast the news cycle is changing and what's being planned. Thank you. I will have more faith now that you do know what a production renderer needs and will indeed get Octane there.abstrax wrote:We aim for a first release in April. It may not contain all of the mentioned features, but most of them.riggles wrote:Saw the press release. I like what I see. Literally checks all the boxes I really needed checked: displacement, rounded edges, hair&fur, variation textures, and network rendering. If all of these actually get shipped this year I will be very happy.
I really like what I see and it justifies a good upgrade price. Most of the features will be a great step forward for the kind of projects i do for my clients.
I really hope the 3dsmax plugin will be updated quickly after the new features are avaiable for the stand-alone which I don't usually use.

The only thing more amazing than the features pack news, is how everyone working on Octane was able to keep such low profile about all those things they were developing while we dwelled this forum asking for them.riggles wrote:I have to admit that I should have had more faith in OTOY's developers. The surprise would be mean if it weren't so welcomed.

I've been checking here https://www.youtube.com/user/nvidia/videos but I don't see any video regarding Otoy, is that the correct conference?

I think it will be on their ustream channel as with the 1.5 presentation from SIGGRAPH. Perhaps in he next few days or so.Rikk The Gaijin wrote:I've been checking here https://www.youtube.com/user/nvidia/videos but I don't see any video regarding Otoy, is that the correct conference?
Hi guys, I somehow managed to find the recordings of the GTC presentation.
You can find them in this topic http://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic. ... 15#p177815
I guess I should have posted here first, sorry about that.
Have a nice day
