I hadn't realized that visibility was going to be on a per-material basis. I am actually thrilled. I was envisioning it being an object property somehow - and visibility would be for the entire object... but hey, I am loving it! Obviously, this will be that much more powerful, even if it is a little work to set up the Object Layer/Object Layer Map stuff... Holy smokes, this is rockin' my effing socks off!

It will be interesting to see how Juanjo implements this in LW plug...

Alembic from Houdini(sphere falling to floor) doesn't work in this build:

P.S maybe problem in "/" - houdini's name conventions for objects

Grouping and Ungrouping (which rocks), did cause a couple crashes (while rendering - did not if paused)... But wow, what a feature!

First, i am liking what i am seeing. great direction.

however, there seems to be an issue with camera target (--cam-target)

"C:\Users\x\Documents\Projects\Archive\categories\tablets-phones\New Folder\pom.ocs" -s 256 -m pom.obj -l "C:\Users\x\Documents\Projects\Archive\categories\tablets-phones\New Folder\pom.obj" --cam-focaldepth 5 --cam-pos-x 19.90256593 --cam-pos-y 18.49701492 --cam-pos-z -15.53721413 --cam-up-x -0.3535533906 --cam-up-y 0.8660254038 --cam-up-z 0.3535533906 --cam-target-x 7.029423612 --cam-target-y 7.986138232 --cam-target-z -2.664071814 --film-width 3000 --film-height 2250

at first i thought it might have been a mesh issue since nothing was showing up, but when looking at the camera settings, the target values are the same as position. also, cam-up isnt working the values stayed at 0 1 0

also a feature suggestion, there is a pick tool for materials; can we get one for objects when using object layer?

Thanks!

ok i figured it out once but can not seem to find it again. how do i get object layer to work?

thanks in advance!

----
nevermind, i found it
for those who need help with it, geometry > object layer map

then connect your obj to it and it will auto populate

It's just sort of occurred to me that now we have box / cylindrical and other mapping features as well as the Octane API & the lua scripting capabilities, that given enough time, someone might be able to creating a complete interactive texturing & mapping application directly within octane rather than use the ones we all use in the various modeling applications, and in doing so, use the online materials database in real time.

....Just an idea for the future
