Has anyone given thoughts about spaces in the directory name were the plug-in is?
Win 7 pro 64bit GTX780
I think that spaces are not the problem, more users should reported this problem before, and I never read anything about problems with spaces to install LW plugins.NemesisCGI wrote:Has anyone given thoughts about spaces in the directory name were the plug-in is?
Anyway thanks for the idea.

I can reproduce the problem here if I put the x32 Octane.dll and Octane.dat files in my x64 Lightwave ... then 0 plugins are added and no more error messages are shown. Could be the problem in this two files?
- Be sure that your are using the x64 Octane.dll and Octane.dat. If you have any Octane x32 in your system (plugin or Standalone), please delete it to be sure that you don't have any x32 Octane.dll in you system. You can even search in your hard disks for this file to be sure that you don't have any other Octane.dll out of your LW/bin directory.
- Check the date and file size of your Octane.xxx files, you have a screen grab of my files to see if all match.
- Do you try Octane Standalone x64 in your system? ... could be great to know if it works without problems.
Really I must admit that I am lost
... I think that problem should be in the files (LWOctane.p, Octane.dll and Octane.dat) ... at some point something is wrong with them, but I can't imagine what could be problem.

I only have x64 version installed of all software. My Octane standalone works fine.
My dates don't match yours, but that is the most resent that I could download from Otoy.
I also deleted Octane.dll and Octane.dat file from LW bin folder and got that the Octane.dll is
missing, but when I close that error. The original error returns. Also when LW is close and
restarted it act like the plugin has been added and gives the Octane.dll missing error before
LW really starts.

And what happens if now you add the Octane.dll and Octane.dat files to your LW/bin? ... if LW show this error could be because it has the plugin installed, at least some of it's internal plugins ...
You can check in the plugins manager window if plugin is available, you should have one line with Octane renderer like the one highlighted in this screen grab.
Can you also please check if you have any plugin running inside your Masters plugin window (CTRL+Q to open the window).

Ok ... really I am lost
Let's resume:
- You have two computers with Windows 8 Pro x64, only Windows Defender as Antivirus, none works.
- You have the VC++ 2010 SP1 redistributable package for x64 in both computers.
- Octane Standalone x64 works without problem.
- You have tried to install the plugin in LW 11.0, 11.5 and 11.6 x64 without luck.
- You have tried to install the plugin versions 1.20.1, an old beta 0.9.9 and a custom build 1.20.2 ... nothing works.
- You have the x64 files Octane.dll and Octane.dat files in your LW/bin directory, no other Octane.dll in the computer.
- Problem is that LW can't install the plugin, 0 plugins added. No other errors shown.
Anybody have seen this before with Octane or any other Lightwave plugin?
I am in a short holidays this week until next weekend, but I am going to try to make a few more tests here, and think about this problem it to see if I can find what could be the problem.
I am also going to compile a very short "hello world" type plugin for you to see if you can install it. I will post it here as soon as I have it. I hope to be able to fix your problem.

Isn't it a problem that his octane.dll is a different date to yours?
Windows 8 Pro | i7 3770 OC | 32 GB Ram | Single Titan (plus Black Edition on Order) | Octane Lightwave |
