Hey Ahmet

So I clicked "Slider type" to C4D and restarted Octane, and now materials only have the Basic Properties showing. I tried changing back to Octane Default, and still nothing changes.

I'm going to re-install. just thought i would mention that this cool sounding feature didn't work on my system.

btw

Octane crashes/freezes if you restart a render to PV by just clicking the renderbutton again
and accept the override. This worked without problems in earlier versions.

Restarting a render in 2.21.1 only works, if you cancel the render, and wait until render has cancelled.
And only after that, you can restart a render.

And just to say it earlier: no bugreport is created and it happens with every scene ;)

not a big problem, because it is easy to get around.
So I just wanted to inform, what I have noticed.

But if this only happens with me....
Anyway! Maybe in next version it will work again by itself.

First off, mind-blowing render engine and plugin. Huge thanks aoktar for spending so much time on the development of the c4d plugin!! 8-)

I have two questions about the 2.21.1 (I've made sure to remove the old 2.16 plugin and standalone, then installed 2.21.1 of both standalone and plugin):

1. I get an error when starting C4D that says: "Tried to start DLL more than once". Clicking it removes it and brings up another one. It does this a couple of times before starting C4D. Could this be a problem with another plugin maybe?
Nevermind, my bad. I forgot to delete the other versions (R14, R15 etc.) of the .cdl64 file.

2. There's a null created by Octane in every document I create, even in the default/template documents created by C4D. The null is called "myOctaneSettings", is this normal?

The plugin seems to be working great with the exception of the DLL error and null.

Thanks again!

Hi caffe3,

not sure, if I remember correctly, but it could
be a conflict with a nitroman plugin.

As said, not sure!
Just try to remove those plugins to test.

Hi there, welcome and thanks.
A null, it's a hidden object for our parameters. Let's keep it here ;)

I realise it's important to have the settings, but is there any alternative way for the settings to be maintained? I have to remove the plugin every time I export files.
If I forget, I get the question "what does the 'myOctaneSettings' do?" :)

cheers

Yes, possible but not easy to change atm. I don't have time for this, maybe later.

There's a glitch where if you set the Kernel max samples to a low number, like 2, the render will freeze and continue forever while rendering info passes. I think it's because of the low max samples, but I will check if it's something else!

Also there is no motion blur in info passes, but I think this has been mentioned already somewhere...

Anyway, thanks for your time!
