After a very brief test I can confirm that the Linux build is now working again. Thanks for the quick fix!radiance wrote:Hi all,
I've made a new tarball for linux which should solve the problem.
I replaced the link in the first post in this thread with the new version.
Linux users should redownload it and try this new one.

Indeed the Linux version is working fine again, but it still feels a tad slower and "heavier" to operate than the windows version. The loading (splash) screen takes quite longer to load than its windows equivalent.

Working fine on my 8800GTX too Radiance. Thanks to the Octane team, I'm loving the new release and features.
One minor question, is it possible to have a 'Pause' option in the Turntable Animation Output / Daylight Simulation Animation Output windows. The current options of Render or Cancel means its difficult to stop then recommence an animation from exactly where you left off as all settings revert back to default.

Is anyone else having problems with corrupt PNG check sum errors? I have been using VirtualDub for months and never had a single problem. Every animation I render with Octane, VirtualDub is kicking out on RANDOM frames with corrupt PNG errors, this is both viewing previews and trying to render out the animation. This is happening only with Octane generated PNG's.

hmmm - I am getting the repeat crashing again. If the app crashes once, it is guaranteed to crash again unless I log out and back in. There must be some phantom process that doesn't die if it crashes. On OS X 10.6.3
Considering this is a beta and it crashes, that pretty much makes the app unusable because I have to stop everything and log out after it crashes once.

Do you get crash logs ? It'd be easier to pinpoint the source of the problem..
Hey, it could be a OS X specific or driver issue.cgbeige wrote:hmmm - I am getting the repeat crashing again. If the app crashes once, it is guaranteed to crash again unless I log out and back in. There must be some phantom process that doesn't die if it crashes. On OS X 10.6.3

Can you post your details ? driver version, and like marc said maybe a crash report or some procedure to reproduce it ?

Also, if it is cuda-related, there might be a message printed in the console...
when it crashing again, I'll send the logs to Terrence.
Is anyone else feeling like everything is even less responsive with path tracing enabled? I thought my machine had crashed because I was clicking for 5 seconds with nothing happening. It's a big difference between when using direct lighting.
