Not a problem, this is a good result as there is nothing strange happening that is hard to fix!itou31 wrote:Hi Chris,
Sorry, I have not launched the ocs file, but the obj, so I think that settings are default.

That seems 1.11 is very fast (including loading parts)
Thanks again and sorry for my mistake.
Thanks
Chris.
Hi Marcus, I did several tests. Loading is very long with a 2.2GB scene, and I have only 8GB of System RAM, so the swap on disk is involved (Win7 ressources monitor displays 12.7GB required for Octane 1.0, and around 9.3GB required for the same scene in 1.11.
The loading time is not always the same. I got no crash when closing on 3 trials with 1.0.
And I got no crash as well this time with two trials only with 1.11.
Due to the long loading time, it is very tedious and boring to do these tests ! But necessary...
Maybe its was due to swap (insufficient System RAM ?) .
I forgot to say that there are 66 textures in my scene : 42 LDR RGB and 24 LDR Greyscale.

Hitting swap significantly slows things down. Swap is no substitute for real memory, but it's better than not being able to run at all.

I am very happy with the progress that Otoy makes integrating useful tools and functions.
A little thing that I still miss for the stand alone is a "use background image option" to align the CG elemts with some live footage (photo).
I hope that this will be added soon.

I read somewhere that they are working on that.Refracty wrote:I am very happy with the progress that Otoy makes integrating useful tools and functions.

Yes, this is a feature I asked for many times. Most needed for easy compositing when using Shadow catcher (Matte material) !I read somewhere that they are working on that.
