Well, if you think of it. Why trash out a half descent update just to please everyone when there is possibility to make a good comeback?
I reckon RS are working very hard to make a nice impact on next release.

I'm looking forward to the next release.

Should be pretty close to V1.0 spec's when it comes out , which hopefully will be soon.

my guess, as its the major re write, it will probably be about 4 weeks away.

After that they really will need to start looking at tighter integration with the various 3D packages around.

That would be just fine.

Face has already achieved something close to that already.

As much as it pains me to say this, as I really love Octane and want support RS. If the development of Octane continues being this slow and the development of Blender Cycles continues to be this fast I will probably have to switch as soon as the blender foundation comes out with a useable Build. It seems that with cycles i can interact with the objects directly and animate them directly within cycles. If this turns out to be even vaguely true, I think this will be the final nail in RSs coffin. Octane is obsolete without either a better integration with the 3D packages, or the ability to manipulate and keyframe objects/cameras directly from within the engine. This is actually pretty tragic as I was starting to convince several research foundations within the International Medical Imaging community to start using Octane. At this time I am probably going to have to tell them all to NOT purchase Octane and wait a couple of months for a usable version of Cycles. I was also working on getting Medical Technical companies to integrate Octane into their imaging devices. I dont think that I in good faith can continue advising this!!! PLEASE improve your integration or be doomed to dissapear into the vaults of history as an abscure footnote in the history of rendering.

With all due respect Dr. Glittenberg, I don't think Octane is either obsolete nor bound to disappear, it's just evolving according to how the competition moves. This happens all the time in the market and the result is usually a better product. I'm sure this lapse of silence on behalf of RS is just the calm before the storm of an amazing new version. Besides, even as it is now, the results people are getting from octane are superb, matching and even surpassing those of any renderer of the competition.
I think your comment is a bit strong and a bit unfair towards RS and how much they've offered us.
