First post, so welcome everyone.

There is only one problem with OcDS - for last six month (without OC) my DS studio crashed 2 (TWO) times.

After installation of plugin (three days ago) it crashed like 100 (one hundred or so) times, mostly while working with mats. But not only. It also crashes in random moments. It seems to have mind of its own, acting totally unpredictable. Moving cameras? Sometimes its just ok. Sometimes - it crashes studio. Changing visibility of props. Sometimes it works as it should. Sometimes it crashes studio. And so on.

Seriously, Otoy team must have some really big cohones to charge over 100 EUR for something that is so ridiculously unstable and completely untested.

welcome. you made your point - thank you for posting.

in case you have questions to ask how to resolve your problems, feel free to ask them. if you want your money back, i might be able to arrange a refund, even though this is excluded from the payment terms...

I'm more than happy with final renders - when I'm able to complete them. BUT - my opinion only - plugin (yeah, I know it's beta but still) was released way to soon. There is no workaround around problems I'm experiencing except for lot of patience and saving the file every minute - just in case. I had two scenes where I was able to work comfortably from the very beginning to final render - no crashes at all. But, just before my first post - DS crashed like mad (i lost the count how many times) when I was trying to set up one material. Frustration level - ultra high - resulting in the first post.

As for refund - thanks, but I'm going to give this plugin a second chance. I just needed to let off some steam. Results are outstanding, render times are good, interface is well thinked. If you will be able to make this plugin as stable as Reality, you have the winner, well worth even bigger money.

thanks for your response - very appreciated. i perfectly know how it is when things went frustrating.

but; apart from that (it is not as reliable as i want to have it, or maybe it should be already) there must be something extra wrong in your case, since this sounds much worse than everything else i've heard to date, and i'm able to complete sessions going half a day without crashes (doesn't prove much, i know, but still...).

can you please write me a pm with you system specs, studio/plugin version, and a saved crash log if possible? i will of course look into that, and i'm quite sure, that there is something that can be done...

I have a very repeatable crash with changing materials.

Load Genesis
Find some eye materials (I used GabiV5 but any will do)
Apply different eye colors.
After 3 or 4 applies... BOOM!

This does NOT happen if I disable 'Automatic material updates after content loads'.

I think this is likely to be some form of memory corruption because the stack trace does not include anything in your namespace (AFAIK).

If you cannot repeat it I can PM you the DS dump info.

DAZ Studio 4.6 Pro / 64bit / Window8 / OR for DS 1.0.113.2313

EDIT: PS This happens faster and more predictably when in Wire Texture Shaded mode.

i can't at least repeat it with the current dev version, where mat collection/conversion did receive already a bunch of changes within the last week. afaik your version will recreate the whole figure mat set when applying an eye set - what was not the idea; btw, does it happen even if you apply the new sets only after a while (not immediately); does it happen if the octane viewport is open or closed (or both)?

ps: to get a crash dump may always reveal something, so pls & thanks!

PM Sent.
I was simply playing with the new Victoria 6 figure, adding textures (skin, makeup, tattoos. etc. when DS blew up. I had not even touched OR. I found a repeat case (changing eye texture) and disabled the octane plugin to ensure it was not a problem with DAZ Studio.

I retested with the render view open and it still crashes.
I noticed that the OR progress bar will hang sometimes (right now it is hung 'Converting materials ... Irises') The next material apply causes DS to crash.

ok, thanks for the additional info. i guess it is a .duf/.dsf set? most probably there happens something during load (where ds catches any exception), thus the hanging progress, thus the following crash (which then will not reveal the actual problem).

you wrote having that with plain genesis - or is it indeed v6? v6 has some differences in mat zones (also the eyes), so i might look esp. into that direction...

I discovered the problem with V6 but I repeated it with Genesis.

EDIT: There are two ways DS will crash when repeatedly applying a texture. Either OR will hang on the progress bar (in with case the next apply with crash DS without a DAZ dump. Or DS will crash right away with a DAZ dump. This happens with Genesis or Genesis 2.
