it's still pretty amazing that octane with simple bruteforce pathtracing is as fast as maxwell which has MLT, QMC, bidirectional and years of performance tuning.

i think in a few months you'll get scenes like this rendered in 40 minutes in octane after i've added similar algos.

Same scene but the glasses on the facade. 5000 samples, 2h rendering and visually the same noise amount :)

i think some object are as if they are floating. it's bright but gloomy (good job if gloomy effect you try to achieve). how about a sample with some shadow?
