Thank you very much for your file and your explanations.
You add particle UID mode "Age". Could it be possible to add Custom properties instead ?
I mean in tyflow we can set custom properties to particles via channel names.
It would be far more powerfull to map particle with its particle data not just age. (see pict)
Hi HHbomb,
Thanks for the suggestion; I see that using more properties can be useful!
I'll see what I can do, but more likely I can add some more of the properties exposed by fyFlow maxscript commands..
Also, the usage of the octane user ID will be limited by the fact that it's an interger, not a floating point value..
If you have some samples of usage of the Custom properties with some get/set, that could help.
Thanks

Hi NZ,

Here is a scene with coloring - age.

It works but there is problems
- I use max gradient ramp, octane one don't work ( not really a problem, just strange, octane gradient need always an input)
- Big problem is that I can't check tyflow "enable particle insterface" and can be a problem with lot of objects.

If you have a solution. :-)
Cheers

Please support instances as v-ray does.

I got this reply from Tyson Ibele (tyFlow):
Either way, any requests need to be made to the Octane devs directly...they have my interface (same one used by VRay/RS/Corona/etc)...I don't have control over their actual implementation of it.

I'll try to explain in more detail what the problem is.
1) https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/scl/f ... 5n5c5&dl=0
Octane render of tyFlow as instances. Vram used is 1315 Mb. Everything works except Mapping. Scene evaluation time: 1 sec.

2) https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/scl/f ... 2u78t&dl=0
Mapping works if I disable the "Incl. legasy interface". But Vram used is 3114 Mb. This means that it is no longer an instance, but just a single mesh. Scene evaluation time: 10 sec.

3) https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/scl/f ... 06w24&dl=0
Render of TyCache. I can't even get a result like the first option. Renders only as meshes, not as instances.

4) https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/scl/f ... hy8oi&dl=0
V-ray work fine both in tyFlow and tyCache. Fast, with mapping and instances. Maybe we need some button like "Enable Vray interface" but for Octane instances?

What I want to end up with: render many partiсals as instances using high-res models in Shape with working mapping.
