Maybe the Quadro drivers only work better in Autodesk programs.I know Nvidia make great claims that these drivers are optimised for Autodesk applications.I changed over when some heavy polygon scenes were becoming sticky in AutoCad and Max.They both now appear to redraw/refresh a faster in these programs than when i used the Geforce drivers.Although this was only a subjective assessment.

You probably didn't see a performance increase for the GTX 260 and 560 since those video cards are not listed in the NV_DISP file.

The only GeForce cards that are listed in the NV_DISP file are as follows:

GTX 460 SE
GTX 460
GTX 465
GTX 470
GTX 480
GTX 570
GTX 580
GeForce 9400

So those are the only cards that will probably see a performance boost.
