Distributed ray tracing in the render info passes tab is checked.
Where is the Distributed Ray trace in Kernals?
Camera Focus / Z Depth passes

Hi Brezaling,
sorry for the confusion but since I was not sure if you were render with passes or directly with the info passes kernel, I have talked about both. In your case only the setting in the Render passes tab is important.
Anyway I don't understand why your pass is so crisp while the beauty have DOF
ciao beppe

Yeh it's driving me a bit crazy.
I did a 2x render of z-depth which will work for me for this shot but in future I want to nail z-depth in one render with clean edges.
For C4D users coming from the native multi-pass set-up to Octane's Multi-pass it's a bit of a hurdle.
A lot of the settings you need to consider are spread across multiple dialogues which can make things a bit confusing - especially if you run into a problem like this.
Sorry to bug you beppe ...
How do you normally configure your project settings to get a multi-pass Z depth (if you use lenscare / do DOF in post?)

Hi Brezaling,
I have to admit that it's rare that I need to have to do the DOF effect in post, please, when you can, send me via PM an example scene that I can use for testing, I will back to you asap.

Hi Beppe,
Thanks for your help. I'll try a new scene with fresh settings in due course and if I run into the same issues I'll drop you a line...
(I can't send my current scene as it contains models that are confidential)
