I don't know this issue. Any scenes to show that?rleuchovius wrote:I understand. Thanks for the clarification.
Yes it is surprising that the black jittery pixels occur not only on the displaced ground but all over the scene equally. This is why I want to see why this is, as it does not seem to be the displacement itself but a bug when using it.
displacement map causes black pixels in passes?

I can upload a scene tomorrow but the result is the same as the dropbox link I provided. Only in that there is only a displaced plane.
I am attaching an image. Only the ground had displacement but the entire image hade black jitter pixels in the info passes.
It took me a while to figure out why they suddenly appeared but I come to realise that it was after I introduced displacements.

I can't see black dots but white firefly? Do you mean these?

This the final comp, I have painted them out. My point was that a small part of the image had displacements yet the black jitter pixel appeared in the whole of the depth pass (which has been fixed in the image). Dealing with animation is a different story as the black pixel appear randomly from frame to frame.

Hi rleuchovius,
weird, this is what I get from your file at 16 samples: could you try to change the ray epsilon value in the kernel settings?

Hmmm. I tried that but it did not work either.
If I render and set the kernel to info passes I have no artefacts but using the info passes as a render pass, I can not get rid of the jitter. Not even with a raised ray epsilon setting.
Could you please upload your file and let me have a look? Are you rendering this through c4d?

Been testing some more, seems like I only get the artefact on singel sided polygons. So a plane plane produces bad results but a sphere does not. Don't know if that helps though.
Hi rleuchovius,
sorry, looking more carefully at my results with your scene, actually I can see the black dots by magnifying it: The same things happen also in Standalone, so is not plugin related.
I'm going to send an orbx to the devs to inform them about the issue, thanks for your patience.

Wow, thanks a bunch! Octane has really made a difference for me in my everyday work. I love it! I am eager to sort out any bugs present.
