Would it be possible that the plugin does this in the background? I.e when you import materials, it's automaticaly copied as new material, deleted and the new material is renamed to fit the name of original? If not I think your solution is ok, it's better to have a confusing prompt than import which does not save.
I tried to implement this, but could not get it to work.Would it be possible that the plugin does this in the background?

Hi, unfortunately I am having another issue, now when I copy the material as new, it saves correctly, however any changes I do to it at this point are not (saved).
Through some denial and error I found that I have to import the material, do the change and then copy it as new material, which is rather inconvenient. Is there any way to fix this?
