Only 8GB VRAM, limited SLI, and DOESN'T YET WORK ON OCTANE 3. Unbelievable.
NVidia execs should resign in disgrace. Card is a total disaster...Believe me.
With the render job node recently added in 3.05+, and native module support in nodes coming in 3.07, you can add a script that can save the result to any format that can be handled by modules, JPG is one. The ORC output nodes already use lua+natove modules to export formats other than PNG/EXR such as the OKX gl compressed texture format for VR as part of your render job. With 3.07, we should have modules that can handle this locally and on ORC in the same way.Notiusweb wrote:![]()
LOL...Why does OTOY hate JPG and background images so much!....WHY????!!!!![]()
Go ahead, ask any of the developers to give the option to save with a background image or as a JPG (if option is not there yet.)
They will not give it to you, guaranteed.
Why is this though?... Is it taboo? Bad luck?
And don't say, "you can convert it to JPG afterwards..."
That is not going to satisfy the curiosity....the hate...why....WHY!?.....
Perhaps...a step back....
Not having JPG is a result of needing validation from users of Octane. When we ask, and they do not give, it is not out of hate, but rather out of a need for validation of their inner-self.
So if one asks to the developer, "where is the JPG, all the other art and rendering softwares allow you to save/export in that format", they then can say, "it's not our used native file format...", thereby 'rendering' themselves as unique, or special. It is almost, they do not feel they exist, unless they themselves are 'rendered' by the 'other'....The fact that you, as a user, can or cannot export as JPG, is irrelevant to them. They know you can composite an image later on in a 3rd part software, and save as JPG. It is actually, the fear of never being 'rendered' to life, that drives them.
So we then see, rather, that it is the need for validation- the user had to go and ask them, thus giving them the validation that they were worthy of the attention...worthy of being rendered. Giving the users tools is not what makes them happy. It is in fact, the self-attention that it yields, that makes them 'happy'. But it is not true inner happiness, created first-hand on the inside of themself. It is an image, a virtual reflection of happiness, witnessed against the reaction of a user to them, 2nd-hand. Much like a rendered virtual reality in a 3D-landscape.
So, we must not ask, "Why the brute and utter contempt, disdain, and absolute hate for JPG?', but rather, "what garners them more attention":
ie - which gets more attention
(1) they give us ability to export as JPG, or
(2) they do not give ability, so we have to consider the more complex PNG and EXR, and perhaps export to Photoshop, and then have to ask them for more help as we encounter an issue when the images are exported from Octane to Photoshop, and we ask them, "Why no export to JPG?".....
Or, wait...
there are 2 file formats for saving as JPG....'JPG' and 'JPEG'....
It's that "E"....
It's that "E" isn't it...ISN'T IT......
E is the 5th letter of the alphabet
The 5th letter in "alphabet" is "A"
"AE"....What is "AE"...
Where I have I seen that before...
"Ae"...
There are tons of people like that. And sometimes I share my experience on hardware issues and warn them not to go with certain solutions and they say "how come you had problems with this while my friend did not" and they buy it. And after some time they are back and ask why they have problems with what they boughtNotiusweb wrote:How come people post topics asking for guidance on what is a good PC-build for rendering, but then they themselves set specifics about what they are going to use?

"What is a good PC for rendering, I would really benefit from insight anyone can give me as I am new to Octane and haven't yet built a rendering PC. I am going to use 3 1080Ti's on an Asus Mobo, with a 500GB system drive and a 2TB data drive, powered by a Xeon E54610 with Kingston memory on a 1600W PSU, quietly cooled by a Corsair fan, and I have a budget of $...
Why don't they just say it from the beginning:
"These are my EXACT build specs. I am definitely, without a doubt, 100%, going to use these...Now, agree with me that it is the best option and/or tell me how awesome it is."
